PROGRAM NOTE
Nekavim ('chasms' in Hebrew) was created in collaboration with Juilliard choreographer Sean Howe as part of Juilliard's 2015 ChoreoComp series. The choreography was inspired by images of opposition: a garden and an earthquake, holding on or falling away. The two dancers give in at certain moments to surrender during maximum oppositions. It regards the connection of two bodies and the decay of space between them. The music provided an environment in which these entities could discover each other, delving into a world of collapse, strength, tension, peace, and surrender. With gratitude, I thank my MAX teacher at Juilliard, Mari Kimura, who created the patch for this work.
